Wondering what it’s like on an INDIRAP set? Today’s your lucky day. We’re bringing you along for an exclusive look to show you what it’s really like behind the scenes.

From setting up the location to uploading the footage. We’re covering it all. You ready for your sneak peek? Let’s gooo!

Prep The Gear

Even before scheduling production our team is prepared and understands exactly what we will need on set based on pre-production details. Will there be interviews?

Will you need a teleprompter? How’s the lighting at the location? How many people are involved?

All of these things determine what we bring to set and why we do.

Because let’s be real, nothing is worse than coming to a production without preparing the right gear bag!

Once we’re all packed it’s time to head out.

Welcome to set

Check out Location

Every time we approach a set we keep our eyes open for the key details that are going to make or break production.

Obviously, we have a solid idea of the kinds of shots we need to get once we start rolling. But details like lighting, extraneous sounds, and angles are all things we have to adapt to on the fly.

Location is everything when it comes to the visual aesthetic of your video. Nobody wants their interview to be done with clutter behind them.

So be prepared to see us move items around or even arrange an area to make it the perfect place to capture visuals.

A lot actually goes into setting up for a shoot. Is there natural lighting or do we need to supplement with our own lights? Is the interviewee sitting or standing, moving or stationary? Where are we going to hook up our teleprompter?

How can we set the scene in a pleasing way while making sure the person speaking feels comfortable and natural?

Before we even begin interviews, we are already prepared with the necessary details to help you talk on screen. Whether its questions, talking points, or a teleprompter.

Our production team is able to prep you for what it’s going to look and feel like once the cameras start rolling, and even guide you through your interview to ensure all the necessary details are captured. That way there’s no gaps when the project goes to post-production.

Capturing Footage & BTS Shots

Everything’s all prepped and in place, now it’s time for the action. The visuals are everything so making sure everyone knows what needs to be captured on set is the biggest part of production. Even things like the time of day can effect when/why we capture footage at the time we do.

Pre-production schedules are used to detail the order of events based on what scheduling works best for your team so everyone on your side knows where to be and when before the shoot even happens. Ensuring the quickest and easiest visual capture plan is in place for everyone involved.

On top of that, we’re typically capturing some of our own BTS images as well (like the ones in this blog). These shots tend to be more casual and candid and are a great way for us to lift the curtain a bit and show how we get things done.

Pack it all up

Once all our footage is captured and everyone’s happy with the results it’s time to wrap. We move from one set to another very quickly so keeping things organized is the best practice for making sure nothing is left behind and that we have everything we need in place to move onto the next shoot.

From switching out SD cards for more storage to replacing dead batteries with new ones. Keeping our gear neat and tidy is essential to our success and the production process.

Upload & Edit

Before we even begin editing we will ask our clients for any important assets or branding materials that may need to be included in their final project video. That way, once our production team gets back to the office, they can upload the footage immediately and our editors can begin chopping up the footage and laying down the ground work for the video in record time.

Typically our edits take anywhere from 10-14 days, or 2-3 weeks depending on the scope and depth of the project.

The marriage of the pre-production process, on set capture, and editorial understanding of your project is what makes the entire INDIRAP process seamless and easy from the client perspective (even if theres a lot of internal communication they may not be seeing!)
